The Story of State Song:
State Song is a comical retelling of three musicians hired by the governor of Iowa in 1911 to write the official state song. Changing deadlines, political differences, and low blood sugar prove to be nearly insurmountable challenges. The final product (the actual state song of Iowa) leaves the musicians feeling less than enthusiastic. Now, 110 years later, it's time to reexamine why Iowa has stuck by this tune.
Songs include: Make Hay While the Sun Shines, Des Moines, Grandma, Goldfinch, and more! "Iowa is famous for its land, It can grow a mighty forest in a season. And the people of Iowa Are famous for the their charms, If you find yourself in their midst there's a reason." |
